The clan is back.
June 1, 2026 2026-06-01 7:00The clan is back.
After more than a year of building, odubhda.org is rebuilt from the foundations.
The site you’re standing on now is the work of the modern Clan Ó Dubhda – the Taoiseach, the Council, the working teams, and dozens of cousins around the world who contributed photographs, family records, DNA samples, oral history, source material, and money. It is the most comprehensive online home this clan has ever had, and it is free to wander.
Some of what’s new.
The story, told properly. Five acts spanning 2,200 years, from the Iron Age kings of Uí Fiachrach Muaidhe to the modern revival. Every claim sourced. Every era illustrated. The MacFirbis genealogies, the O’Donovan pedigree, the O’Reilly stories – all woven in.
The places. Twenty Ó Dubhda castles, five abbeys and friaries, five ancient and sacred sites, four allied castles, and two folk monuments – each with photographs, history, and visitor notes. Walk the lower Moy from your phone.
The people. A vetted directory of 144 famous Ó Dubhda surname-bearers in the public record, ranked by a transparent fame-score algorithm that updates weekly. The Y-DNA Project. The Clan Builder for finding kin. The Member Photos gallery.
The places you can come. Heritage events, webinars, gatherings, the St Patrick’s Day map, and the next major homecoming at Belleek Castle in 2028.
This is week one of a new chapter. Every weekday this week we’ll surface another corner of the site – the Taoiseach, the mission, the merchandise, the next gathering. By Friday you’ll have seen the shape of where we’re going.
For now: welcome home.
We are Ó Dubhda. We’re rebuilding the clan online at odubhda.org.
