Thomas Edward Dowd (born 11 September 1970) is a Canadian Catholic prelate who has served as Bishop of Sault Ste Marie, Ontario since 22 October 2020. Born in Lachine, Quebec, into the Montreal-area Irish-Catholic community, Dowd took a Bachelor of Commerce at Concordia University in Montreal in 1992 and joined Ericsson Research Canada, eventually becoming manager of Ericsson’s Global Integration and Verification Organisation. He felt called later to ordained ministry, became one of the first Canadian priests to keep a public blog (from 2003) and was appointed an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Montreal by Pope Benedict XVI on 11 July 2011, serving alongside fellow auxiliary Christian Lépine. The two were consecrated together on 10 September 2011 by Cardinal Jean-Claude Turcotte, then Archbishop of Montreal. Dowd served as auxiliary in Montreal until 2020, when Pope Francis appointed him Bishop of Sault Ste Marie, the diocese covering northeastern Ontario and the eastern Algoma District.
