O'Dubhda Whiskey

A clan cask, maturing in Mayo · Bottled for the 2028 Homecoming
Connacht Single Malt — the bottle when the cask deal was struck. The distillery rebranded as Ballina in November 2025; the clan cask remains in place.

A clan cask, laid down at Ballina

A small clan cask was sourced for the O’Dubhda by Kieran O’Dowd, seventh modern Taoiseach (2018–2022) and the first woman to hold the office of Chief of the Name in the clan’s recorded history. It was laid down at the Connacht Whiskey Distillery in Ballina, on the site of the old Duffy’s bakery on the banks of the Moy — the first distillery built in County Mayo in a hundred and fifty years.

In September 2024 the distillery was acquired by Terroirs Distillers, a French family-owned wine and spirits group; in November 2025 it was rebranded as the Ballina Distillery and released its first single malts under the new name. The clan cask remains in place, maturing quietly through the change of ownership.

It is set aside for bottling in time for the 2028 Homecoming, where it will be released as O’Dowd Whiskey — a small, named expression marking the clan’s gathering on its own ground.

Not Currently for Sale

The cask is being held for the 2028 Homecoming and is not available to buy. We will open registration of interest closer to bottling, and post details here when we do. For now, this page is a placeholder so the clan can find it later.
