Committees of the Ó Dubhda Clan

A clan endures not only through bloodlines and memory — but through action. The Ó Dubhda Clan is actively growing its committee structure to ensure our heritage is preserved, our community is strengthened, and our global family has every opportunity to come together.

We are currently in the process of forming several new committees, each focused on a distinct and vital area of clan life. Some are actively underway; others are in the early stages of formation and actively seeking volunteers. If you feel called to contribute your time, your skills, or your passion to any of these efforts, we want to hear from you.

🏰 The Gathering Committee (2028 Rally)

Status: ACTIVE
Led by: Terry & Carianne Rochford

The Gathering Committee is our most active committee and the heartbeat of the clan’s community life. Led by Terry and Carianne, this group is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing the O’Dubhda clan gatherings — the rallies and reunions that bring our global family together to celebrate who we are and where we come from.

From venue selection and scheduling to programming, communications, and logistics, this committee ensures that every gathering is worthy of the O’Dubhda name.

The next major gathering is already in planning — and if the inaugural clan reunion of 2025 was any indication, it is going to be something truly special.

The Gathering Committee is actively meeting and welcomes additional support. If you’d like to contribute to bringing the family together, reach out — there’s always a seat at the table.

🌐 Website & Marketing Committee

Status: Forming — Volunteers Welcome
Led by: Sean O’Dowda Stephens

The O’Dubhda website is the front door of our clan for the world. This committee will be responsible for reviewing, editing, and maintaining the site — ensuring that our content is accurate, up to date, well-organized, and a worthy reflection of our history and community.

Whether you have experience in web design, writing, editing, or simply a sharp eye for detail, your contribution matters. This committee will work collaboratively and remotely, making it accessible to O’Dubhda members regardless of where in the world they live.

This committee is currently being formed. If you’d like to be part of the team building our digital presence, we’d love to have you.

🌳 Family Tree Research Committee

Status: ACTIVE
Led by: Colum O’Dowd

Understanding the branches of the O’Dubhda family tree — stretching from the ancient Kings of Connacht to the farthest corners of the diaspora — is one of the most enduring and meaningful projects our clan can undertake. The Family Tree Research Committee, led by Colum O’Dowd, is dedicated to exactly that.

This committee focuses on the collaborative, hands-on work of tracing, documenting, and connecting the family lines of O’Dubhda descendants worldwide. Working from historical records, yDNA data, genealogical archives, and the lived knowledge of clan members, the committee aims to build the most comprehensive and accurate picture of our family ever assembled.

Colum brings a deep commitment to this work, and the committee welcomes researchers of all levels — from seasoned genealogists to those who are simply curious about where their particular branch of the family leads.

The Family Tree Research Committee is actively forming under Colum’s leadership. If you’d like to contribute your research, your family records, or your time, please reach out — every branch of the tree matters.

🧬 Genealogical Committee

Status: Forming — Volunteers Welcome

Genealogy sits at the heart of everything we do. Understanding who we are, where we come from, and how we connect to one another and to the ancient O’Dubhda dynasty of north Connacht is one of the most meaningful gifts we can offer our family.

The Genealogical Committee will work to gather, verify, and share genealogical research across the global O’Dubhda diaspora — coordinating yDNA projects, family tree research, document discovery, and connections to existing archives and scholars.

We are in the process of assembling leadership for this committee and will have more details to share very soon.

This committee is actively forming. If you have a passion for genealogical research, family history, or Irish historical records — or simply want to trace your own line — we encourage you to put your name forward.

💰 Fundraising Committee

Status: Forming — Volunteers Welcome

The work of the clan — rallies, research, heritage projects, digital infrastructure, and community events — requires resources. The Fundraising Committee will be responsible for identifying and pursuing meaningful fundraising goals on behalf of the clan, ensuring that every dollar raised goes toward something tangible and lasting for our community.

Specific goals and campaigns will be announced as the committee takes shape, but the ambitions are real: we want to fund projects that make a difference — for our heritage sites, our gatherings, our digital archive, and the next generation of O’Dubhda descendants.

This committee is currently being formed. If you have experience in fundraising, event organizing, grant writing, or community development — or simply want to help make things happen — we’d love to have your voice at the table.
